INTRO.

You wake up feeling like you’ve had a rough night’s sleep… maybe a bit jet-lagged, if you’re familiar with the feeling, or perhaps like you, uh, had a little too much to drink last night. Either way, you’re probably not expecting to wake up in a forest clearing, so that might be even more disorienting. It’s not an unpleasant place to wake up, mind. It’s sunny, and there’s a pleasantly cool breeze blowing through. The grass isn’t tall enough that you could get lost in it or that someone could be hiding in it… or something.

There are, in fact, a lot of somethings surrounding you--a veritable menagerie of creatures, some of them adorable, and some of them intimidating… but they seem to be as disoriented as you are. And then, well… you realize something’s a little off about yourself. There’s no pond to look at your new appearance, but… maybe the ground’s a little closer. Maybe you don’t actually have arms and legs at the moment. Maybe you don’t have eyes anymore?

Regardless, something’s definitely up. Fortunately, there’s a path leading out of the clearing, so once you get your bearings and speak with some of the other weird critters you’ve woken up with, you can find… somewhere you can get answers. Well, hopefully, anyway.

Alright now, don't get all huffy at me.

[Tragically, delicacy and subtlety aren't included in the real Jack's menagerie of traits, so neither will they be in this one's. The alternative will be the route he takes here.

Of course, delicacy doesn't immediately break away to cowardice. No, despite Susie being nearly four times the size of his true body (false head excluded), Jack appears unfazed, and if anything, he steels himself for whatever she has ready for him. He's dealt with not one, but three dragons in his life, all perfectly loyal - and perfectly deadly - to him. Either he'll calm Susie down, or he'll tame her like the others, and he has no qualms with flaunting his prowess.

Even if he looks sorely non-intimidating.]

You think this doesn't feel like a joke to everyone else? I can't even be in the goddamn sun lest I burn to death. So you don't have working eyes. Yeah, that sucks, and I'd bet you didn't start out on all-fours either, but you know what? Neither did everyone else.

You're allowed to be upset, frustrated, furious even! But don't treat us like it's any of our faults you ended up this way and go heaving and harking in our directions. If you're gonna be pissed about it, save it for the thing that did this to you.

[Susie snarls in his direction. He's right. It sucks, but he's right. It doesn't stop her from wanting to clobber him though.

She mutters to herself.]
Big words for such a little man...

[She takes a second to try to calm herself down. Had she shown up in this weird-ass place a few days earlier, she'd already be throwing hands. Unfortunately, she's very recently had to learn that she can't pummel all her problems away (though it does work a surprisingly large percent of the time). She just needs to breathe...]

At least you've got your dirty rags to hide under! There's not a whole lot I can do about.. this! [She gestures towards her face. The attempt to calm herself down is. Not working as well as she had hoped.]

And I can't exactly kick the ass of whatever pissbaby did this if I can't get out of.. wherever we are! Which is just a liiiittle bit completely impossible without those working eyes! I get that it sucks for the rest of you chumps too, but it sounds like some of you guys got wings! I lost my sight. So excuse me if I'm a little pissed off right now, jackass. What am I supposed to do, exactly??

[Susie's got a right to be mad. But she shouldn't be taking it out on this guy, and she knows it. That being said, she's too pissed to feel too guilty about it. And now that she knows he's kind of an asshole, she doesn't feel quite as bad about it.

She's still reeeaaalll angry, but she's at least been talked down enough to the point where it doesn't seem like she's about to attack anymore. She needs some help, even if that just entails pointing her in the right direction and getting her to piss off.]
